My great-grandmother, on my paternal grandfather’s side, was a cook before she married. I don’t yet know her name, where she worked or who her employers were, but I hope to find out as I go through her cookery notebooks. The dates on the notebooks are from the late 19th century,1895-99.
I’ll be transcribing her recipes and remedies – some appetising, some amusing, some unremarkable – here.
